Butterfly Wedding Cake

I made this cake for a wonderful friend of mine who was renewing her wedding vows.  Days in advance I crafted the tiny array of roses and butterflies to cascade down the 3 tiers.  Each tier was a delightfully different in flavors and fillers.  I was actually lucky enough to have some of my very own cake at this event!  Below you will see the matching cupcakes I made for the children.  These were made by using my hand dipped technique.  See how it's done here.

Mardi Gras

Fun Fat Tuesday!

Jambalaya simmered on the stove as I gathered the kids for a fun Fat Tuesday dinner together.  We talked about history of Mardi Gras and Lent and shared ideas of giving something up together this year.  The children enjoyed the bright colors and the festivity of it all and tasted King Cake for the first time.  Here I just gathered some fanciful decorations I found at party stores and mostly the dollar store this year.  

Valentines Day Teen Fun

Valentine's Day 

This year I decorated a little place in our party room for my oldest teenage daughter to celebrate Valentine's Day with her best friend and their "friends that are boys" :)

I chose a not too sophisticated atmosphere, but added little touches of romantic celebration with plastic champagne glasses and sparkling juice in a champagne bucket.  I let the piano play some gentle classical background music on auto play and dimmed the lights for a candle lit table when dinner was served.  The kids were great sports and had a wonderful time.  Enjoy some pictures of easy to do ideas for your next dinner of love!
