Pretty Natural Table Decor

Pretty Natural Table

My nine year old, Cassie, has this gift of finding pretty abandoned  bird's nests.  I always loved them and was so amazed at the intricacy and the detail of them.  Sweet momma bird, finding just the right soft twig, or abandoned piece of fabric....I am just in love with the complexity and the simplicity of them.

I cut a piece of fabric the size of a table runner, and glue gunned on all these spare leaves from floral arrangements and extra flowers I had in storage and made a pretty leaf runner.  Then we added some store bought nests and pretty plastic eggs to build it up a bit.  Such a sweet and pretty reminder of nature and a wonderful backdrop for a tablescape.  I love it so much, I've had a hard time wanting to change it, and will add different dishes and colored candles for each holiday.  Easter hosted moss bunnies and Christmas held red candles.  It is also a great back drop idea for a garden party or nature themed event.

Healthy Lemon Tarts

Healthy Lemon Tarts

I used Elana Amsterdam's pie crust recipe with almond flour.  It is so easy to make!
I pressed the dough into my "Babycakes" cupcake maker and it cooked perfectly in about 4 min.  It came right out without any sticking.  Then below, you can see what I grabbed for a make shift lemon filler.  I didn't even really measure, but sort of winged it until I came up with a creamy filler.  You can add any fill you want to this easy yummy crust and it is healthy!  The possibilities are endless.  Last week  I melted down some organic blueberries with a few spoonfuls of blueberry preserves into wonton crusts and  made mini blueberry tarts!  Check out her pie crust, it is healthy and amazing!  Get a little creative and let me know what you come up with!  The tray of these disappeared in 0-1 minutes!

Pretty Pink Princess Castle Cake

Pretty Pretty Princess Castle Cake

Oh just one of my all time fav cakes I have made!  I always smile when I see this cake!  One of the moms at the party thought it was a toy castle on the table.  It is covered in marshmallow fondant I made, still working on something less SUGARY for fondant, but not there yet!  But I did post a really cool  alternative healthy vanilla cake recipe below that looks interesting and worth a try! I always put a creamy frosting under my fondant anyway, so when you ate it, you could just leave that tiny edge of fondant there and still have cake and frosting.  The blog below has some interesting frosting recipes without sugar and butter too!
